Catherine Parra Dix was born and raised in Deming, New Mexico. In 1996 she earned her bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in soil science. Since then, Catherine has worked as a natural resources conservationist when she wasn't taking time off to raise babies and hiding in closets trying to write. She now resides in Colorado's San Luis Valley with her husband and four children.
